Summary
The US Retirement Plans Associate role will support the US Head of Retirement Benefits with the on-going operations and administration of the firm’s US Retirement Plans. The role will focus on operational efficiency, project management, and ERISA compliance management. Key projects include annual ERISA audit, vendor management, ERISA compliance, as well as general project management and oversight for key initiatives.
Responsibilities
• Assist in strategic development and administrative management of the US Retirement Plan programs
• Act as primary contact for day-to-day operations of retirement plan administration, including the following:
o Point of contact for daily interaction with trustees/custodians, investment managers and record keepers. Manage operational requests through internal stakeholders (e.g., ERISA legal counsel, internal controllers, and investment committee);
o General oversight of on-going administration;
o Interpret and operate plan in accordance with plan documentation;
o Manage participant escalations with the plans’ service center and manage plan compliance issues with internal ERISA counsel from identification through resolution;
o Work on investment reporting provided to participants and to plans’ investment committee; and
o Liaise with plan consultants to coordinate compliance non-discrimination testing.
• Manage annual Department of Labor and Securities and Exchange Commission regulatory filings and compliance reporting (e.g., ERISA Form 5500 reporting, PBGC filings and financial statement compilation) for all retirement plans. Coordinate with internal teams and external vendors to compile, review and finalize annual filings. Act as lead contact with auditor to manage overall audit process.
• Work with Secretary of Retirement Committee to manage investment option changes/modifications.
Collaborate with Plan’s record keeper, trustee/custodian and investment manager to implement plan investment option changes.
• Coordinate internally to prepare participant-directed communications and internal postings to stakeholders.
• Collaborate with regional retirement/benefit team members on employee relocations throughout the firm’s global offices.
Required Skills & Knowledge
• Compliance – very strong understanding of ERISA rules and regulations governing employer-sponsored retirement plans, including Form 5500 annual reporting
• Investment Knowledge – general understanding of investment industry and investment vehicles held in employer-sponsored retirement plans
• Financial Accounting – ability to understand financial reporting and basic accounting rules as they relate to benefit plan financial statement reporting
